Koreatown is a great neighborhood within Los Angeles. It is literally 10-15 minutes away from Hollywood, DTLA, Miracle Mile, Culver City, and other neighborhoods. It is no wonder this neighborhood seems to be always packed with people.
We are located inside Oxford Palace Hotel in the heart of Koreatown. This hotel has been owned by Korean-Americans for nearly three decades. Many Korean Americans who live in LA know this hotel as “the spot” for business meetings, catching up with old friends, and the hotels where their friends and relatives from out-of-town would stay.
We entered the second floor lounge of Oxford Palace Hotel knowing the current clientele. And we aim to serve them along side the younger generation of Korean Americans and non-KA’s alike. We have kept the carpeted floor and kept some of the furnishings that already exist inside the hotel, but also replaced some to give a fresh look. All of our seats are designed for you to come and stay for a while.
Our name, “The OX,” has two meanings. Firstly, we are located within Oxford Palace Hotel, hence the shorter “ox”. Secondly, the letter “X” is capitalized so that now “O” and “X”, which are two opposite symbols in meanings, are joined together. This signifies our desire to gather people in opposite spectrum: Koreans and non-Koreans, young and old, new-comers to Koreatown and veterans who lived here as long as Koreatown has existed.
Come and sit down with us.
